The Dunlop Tortex Standard Picks Sample Variety Mix Pack includes twelve picks—two of each gauge from .50 to 1.14—making it an ideal starting point for beginners searching for their preferred thickness and a handy testing kit for seasoned players curious about how different flex levels affect their tone. Each pick is made from Tortex, a textured material that grips securely even with sweaty hands, and the color-coding system lets you grab the right gauge at a glance without fumbling through a case. The pointed tip delivers precise attack on strings, while the fine surface texture gives a comfortable, non-slip feel that many players find superior to standard celluloid picks. Whether you are strumming chords on an acoustic or digging into faster lines on an electric, having six distinct gauges on hand means you can match your pick to the moment and keep your playing feeling fresh.
Unlike standard celluloid picks that tend to slip and produce a brighter, clickier sound, the Tortex material offers a darker tonal character and a fine, almost powdered texture that stays put in your fingers through long practice sessions. This variety pack format is particularly useful because Dunlop typically sells its Standard picks only in single-gauge twelve-packs, so getting all six gauges in one small assortment saves the hassle of buying multiple boxes just to find your favorite. Many players keep a couple tucked in their guitar case and a few at their practice station, swapping between the lighter .50 and .60 for relaxed strumming and the stiffer 1.00 or 1.14 when they need precision for lead work. The color-coding—yellow, green, blue, and purple across the range—makes it easy to grab the right one mid-song without breaking your rhythm.
